I am a strong advocate for FasTracks and public transportation.  I want Denver to be a world-class city, a desire which residents of Northwest Denver share.  To achieve this goal, Denver must have an efficient, user-friendly and convenient public transportation system.

Developing and implementing FasTracks will bring this efficient transportation system to Denver.  In addition, transit-oriented development provides huge benefits to the surrounding community by bringing in new energy, people and businesses to the area.  If done correctly, FasTracks and transit-oriented development is and will be a great boost to the City of Denver.

We are in a recession, challenged by a tough economy.  Depending on the budget analysis for FasTracks, we may need to approach the voters to ask for further support of this project.  I would like, however, to first determine if there are other ways to reduce expenditures, create efficiencies and develop revenue streams without having to increase taxes on our community.  Finally, I would like to know what the residents of Northwest Denver think about FasTracks and whether they think a potential ballot question is the appropriate solution.
