Jon Lehmann for Denver City Council District 1Jon Lehmann for Denver City Council District 1

Hello friends and neighbors!

I’m Jon Lehmann and I hope to be your next City Councilman for District 1. I’d like to share with you a little bit about myself and my family’s experience serving our great city. My great-grandfather lived in this District in the 1940′s and 1950′s. My mother grew up in East Denver and I was born and raised in southeast Denver. After living and working in places outside of Colorado, my desire was to return home and serve this community. Public service has been an important part of my life since I as a child. My father was a former Assistant City Attorney for Denver. Presently, my mother is serving District 4 as its City Councilwoman. Watching and learning from my parents’ example of service and sacrifice has reinforced my desire to be of service to our District and our City. I attended Denver Public Schools and the University of Colorado which solidified my love for this City and State.

For the past few years, I’ve devoted my time to several causes. I am an environmental attorney, I volunteer as a leading voice in House District 4 and I have participated as a member of the RTD Gold Line Issue-Focused Team. In January, I was selected to serve on the 2010 Community Advisory Committee for Denver Parks and Recreation. I take great pride in all my public service. If elected, be assured that I will carry the voice of our community and stand up for what is fair. I would be honored to represent you as the next City Councilman for District 1.

My vision as your next City Councilman is as follows:

  • Budget – We have difficult and challenging budget years ahead. My goal as your Councilman will be to make sure District 1 does not receive unequal treatment or unnecessary cuts.
  • Balance – Over the past decade the demographics of the District have changed dramatically. It is important to support and promote this change while maintaining the character and charm of North Denver.
  • Energy – I will bring fresh ideas, hard work and my public service commitment to the residents of District 1.
  • Unity – I will work to unify our community so that our future and the future of our families and businesses are bright and promising.
